Anyone ever thought about swapping in the cluster or just the odometer from a 1980-99 medium duty ford truck. So your odometer would turn over every million instead of every 100 thousand. The insides of the trucks look the same except the fire wall has a dog house and that's about it.

1986F150six The place I work at has four of these trucks and they all have cable speedo's. I'm not saying your wrong the ones at my work are base model and the newest one is 1987.
NumberDummy If I was to do this I'd rather not have one shipped across the states, There's a few truck wrecking yards in my area that I should try.
I was just wander if anyone has thought about doing it or has done it.

I believe the one I have is from 1992. See the photos:
Ya I see that if I find one I could probably pull the odometer out of the cluster and swap it in to my cluster. and I do like how the tach doesn't go to 6000 rpm cause there is no way a stock efi 302 will go past 3500 rpm

I don't think it would be that easy.
I cant remember if the screws are up/down like pictured or side ways? Raining to hard to run to garage to check.
The window that the mileage shows would be longer for the mil/mile so you would need to swap the faces and I don't know if that can be done or not.
Lets say it can be done then the speedo heads maybe setup different to run the mileage counter and the speedo needle for the right speed.
As for the tach I can see a 302 hitting the 4500 mark but a 300 six, what that tach was most likely made for, would not.
If you do this let us know how you make out.

the tach and speedo mount the same as our truck. The numbers are smaller on this odometer then the 80-86 light duty trucks and I didn't a quick measure on a truck at my work and they are the same.
My truck has been up to 3500 and it floated the valve for a quick second and I haven't been up there since.
If I'm going to do it I'd just swap over the odometer roller and tach. I just need to find one first for a decent price.

I don't think the odometer window is wide enough on your speedo.

If you compare the photo that was put on here earlier which is a cluster from a f700 or 800 to the cluster in your step side fuzz face there is a noticeable difference in the size of the roller.
