Hello all. Tonight I had my 1997 F-250 Heavy Duty at my friends farm. I went to leave, and as I was backing down the ramp, I hit the brakes, and the pedal went to the floor. I went to pump it, but didn't get any pedal. I did manage to get it home,. but it wasn't easy. Once I got it into my drive way, I checked underneath to search for any signs of a leak, but I did not find anything around any of the wheels, or any fluid dripping off of the frame as in a line blowing out, but didn't find anything there either. So I looked under the hood, and the resevoir on the master cylender had a little (less than an inch) of fluid. My question is, how do I check or test to see if the master cylender went bad?
if there is less than one inch of fluid in the master there is a leak somewhere. chock the wheels to keep it from rolling, then fill the master cylinder and have someone step on the brake pedal while you inspect under the truck for the leak.
