With any of that stuff the aluminum tape should be used on all seams..

Yes, even on the edges. And be sure to wear gloves as both the mat and the tape edges are very sharp. With XMat they give you a pair of rubber gloves but they didn't look very substantial so I used my own leather palmed gloves. Also the roller helps a lot.

I just checked the best I could under the headliner in the panel with a camera and all seems okay, I might remove a side panel some day and see how it looks under it. The panel has been exposed to very hot sunshine for hours at a time..

I had the same problem, I called Eastwood and explained and they sent me free clean-up spray cans, a box of rags and a box of the improved insulation. I bought mine several years ago so I assume they have corrected the problem.

Is there any indication that it's all the older stuff or just a bad batch and has it been corrected ( evidence from users not Eastwoods claims ) ?

Eastwood’s XMat appears to be different. I would still tape all seams and edges.

I just bought 50 sq ft of 80 mil deadener, will report back once I get some results.

Be sure to seal the seams...
