02 F250 7.3. Blew a couple fuses that control the cluster last week. Of course the truck went into limp mode and I was stuck. Tracked down a short in the shifter. Replaced the shifter unit. And the 10 amp fuse and I was back in business. So I thought... The new shifter od cut off button does not work and the truck is still cutting off but not blowing fuses now. You can let it set 10 minutes and it will crank right up and run fine for a short period. Could it be the new shifter is bad? (Not likely). Or did I fry and ICP, or CPS, or maybe an IPR.
This needs to be moved to the right forum (99-03 7.3)
your truck will run with out the icp, the cps could be the issues, i had a similer problem on my 96 and it was the cps, not sure on the ipr
also had a problem on my 99 i would cut out while driving, pull over shut it off and it restart is and i would be fine for a few miles and do it agin. turned out to be the engine wiring harness rubbing on the driver valve cover.
I realized I was in the wrong year group after it posted. I reposted in the correct thread. I'm sure I've got a short somewhere but it's going to take someone with more knowledge than me to find it. It's in the shop as we speak. It's acting like an IPR the more I think about it. But that still doesn't explain why the new shifter is not working correctly. Thanks for the response.
