ok, so no reasonable solutions seen for clean hidden front winch bumpers. Anyone have a rear replacement bumper with winch mount? I like to have a winch, I am in and out of ranches and they are darn useful, also like to have when in the rockies during ski season. Anywho--rear replacement bumper winch owners speak up?
There isn't much room forward of the hitch/bumper unless you remove the spare tire. I have a winch in a cradle that I'll use instead of hiding a which behind the rear bumper.
A neighbor of mine had a Dodge Power Wagon with a winch behind the rear bumper. It looked real good. If you didn't already know it was there you wouldn't see it at all. But I don't know if he had a spare or not.
A few weeks ago I did some research on bumpers for the '18 I have ordered. I live where the deer and buffalo roam and my steel front bumper/grill guard has paid for itself many times over...anywho..... this site has the best selection and price of the mass produced bumpers on the market.... if you find more please share as I'm still looking/debating on what I want to run.
Not a lot of room behind a bumper on the rear to fit a winch. A guy could customize a winch behind some of these bumpers but the room for a full winch would be super tight. Would need measurements. Other option is a front receiver and a good winch mounted on on a plate and hitch bar. Then you can put the winch on either end of the truck and pull away. The other upside is the winch is in the tool box protected from weather and theft. I happen to have the 3” rear receiver, rated for 18,000 lbs. I would think a similar fanned into one of these custom front bumpers would give a guy some great options. You can wire up the big wiring and plugs to both front and rear and handle the remote pretty simply.
I installed a Road Armor Stealth rear winch bumper with a Warn XD9k. I did have to remove my spare but did not have a problem with this since my spare won't fit anyhow.
Put it in a cradle so you can use it in back as needed. I use Anderson connectors on mine. Nice to be able to carry it in the F-150 when needed instead of being permanently stuck in the F-350.
