Rear bumper

Now that I've learned the hard way how weak the rear bumper is ......

Anyone gone aftermarket on the rear bumper - if so got some pictures?

I wish there was one with the hitch integrated into it.

Take a look at body armor bumpers, same style as road armor but roughly half the price.

I second that. The hitch placement is the limiting factor on an oversized spare, and the stock hitch is not well tucked. I would buy a replacement bumper with integrated 2” (not 2.5 or 3”) hitch that looked decent tomorrow.

I can’t remember where I read it, but I think it was in the OM. The hitch is part of the fuel tank collision protection and should not be removed.

The hitch is pretty far from the tank I don't think that's in there. Adding a 1/8 steel bumper/hitch in 1 is probably stronger than both oem setups put together anyways

My guess if there was a safety reference it’s that the hitch functions partially as the rear “Prius catcher”. I’d still want a combined bumper/hitch.

I wonder what that would look like on a White-platinum color truck. My bumpers are white now.

I like this look, very nice - if you get a chance can you shoot one straight from the back

Not planning on changing out the rims and lifting the truck so looking for a bumper that is a bit conservative.
