Tranny issues... MLPS?
Have a 1994 f150. E4od. Had it slam a few random times in the past 2 months. During that time, I'd have to let go of the gas after second to let it get into third. Last week it neutral out after 2nd gear. Now wont go past 2nd. If I let it sit in neutral it might find third 1 out of 20 times. After it neutrals I can manually shift it into neutral position, and then put it in drive and the transmission will engage in second gear until it neutrals again.
I scanned for codes and received none.I picked up MLPS Motorcraft. The connector attaches on top rather than the rear side. The original sensor connector attached on the rear side. We made the proper alignment, installed properly, but received no crank. Side note, I inspected the shifter cable and found that it was rotted out so I need a new cable. Playing with the alignment by rotating it 1 degree to the rear I could get the vehicle to start in neutral. I could not get the mounting screw holes lined up Nor would it start in Park. I used the original connector and plugged it right into the new sensor.I feel that the sensor alignment is out of whack.Number 1, does anybody has any thoughts on my issue.
Number 2 I'm not sure why the MLPS is not lining up.
( FYI my dad is a 20yr mechanic but not a tranny specialist, we been working on this.)
