OK here is the deal, My 1992 ford f150 started shifting very hard at random times, so I scaned the codes and it told me that the nutural safty switch was messed up. so I bought a new one but you had to change the clip on the harness, so I did that, then I removed the old one, I had the truck in park, I had the wheels chalked and when I was removeing the shifter cable arm on the tranny, it skiped to a different setting before the nut came loose, I put the new one on, lineing up the center line marks, and then when I tried to move the gear shifter ***, it acted stuck and I hadnt even hooked it to the tranny yet, so my question is, did I tear up the shifter cable, becouse even after I got the arm back on the tranny it would only go to "D" no further. I did get the truck to crank once and even cycle trough the gears up to "D" but after I tried to adjust the cable again at the tranny it wont start after that..........Please tell me that I can fix it....easily.

are you talking about the MLP Sensor (or switch) ?
If so I replaced mine and changed out the wireing harness too.
but had NO problems lineing everything back up...

oops
well I pulled the cable off of the tranny and tried to shift it with a wrinch and I am pretty sure that I broke it, the shifter arm moves forward and back about 15 to 20 deg. before it acts like it is in a gear but they are way in the back of the range of motion. I am going to call a tranny shop tomarrow.
