Thanks for the help and suggestions!! I have a lot to research now. I do have a 5th wheel and my current hitch fits under a cover so not worried about that. Again many thanks!!

Looks like the Extang and bak still leave room to add a rack over the rails. I haven't really considered this until I recently had a buddy get me interested in overlanding. The rails give you access adding rack rails.

I had the Linex spray bedliner and their Truck Gear Bak F1 hard cover trifold on my last F350 and plan on the same combo for my next F350.
btw exact same price to the cent as the Bak F1. LOL
circling back to this and preparing to pull the trigger. Can anyone confirm the update to the gasket system improving the F1, including being able to open/close the tailgate without opening the tonneau, have carried over to the linex?

the linex dealer doesn’t seem to know much about the cover, but can get it. The linex corporate question just got forwarded to a dealer who reached out to me similarly uninformed....

You can now open the tailgate without opening the F1 and the tailgate can also be closed when the last section is either up or down. I did not hear anything new about the gasket.
I have the Linex version but it is made by Bak for Linex. btw I have the 6’10” bed and the cover is not a tri-fold as I had mentioned above—there are 4 sections. But I can completely free the bed by folding it up to the rear window.

Thanks that helps. As I understand it the original BAK f1 required the tonneau be open, close the tailgate, then close the lid. You couldn’t close the tailgate without first opening the lid. This was improved sometime recently....

sounds like the linex is just the same, but with linex. I had some minor worry there might be old stock of the old gasket system or something....

it’s made by Bak for Linex. This is just as new as the new F1’s. But instead of Bak’s 3 year warranty, you get Linex’s lifetime warranty. My Linex dealer quoted me the same price as a local Bak dealer and installed it as well for no additional charge. But I understand that not all Linex dealers are really knowledgeable about the tonneau covers. So check around.

Question number 45.... there’s a linex “stealth” and “lxp” hard tonneau. Which one is the F1 (composite$?

again, cant get a straight answer out of the dealer about anything.

Does the Bakflip or Linex version of it, come with the option of the linex coating on top? Seems like I saw somewhere that you could get it with it already linex'd which helped in dings and scratches. Not sure how it would be for keeping it clean though.

I ordered a Leer Trilogy X2T for my new set up. Simple install, no drain tubes, easy to remove when I need the entire bed.

On the Backflip F1 or the Linex version Truck Gear hard cover I doubt you could make a dent in it with a hammer. This is a composite fiberglass not the aluminum like the Bak M1 which will get dents from hail. The Linex people can pretty much coat anything but IMO you’d just be putting unnecessary weight on your top while spending unnecessary money. Again that’s just my opinion— maybe someone else who has an F1 can chime in.

Ordered 2x from linex today. Manufacturer part number for 2017+ short bed linex LXP, same as bak-f1, is TG95330. I was able to use this PN to make exactly sure the two dealers I spoke to were referencing the same part.

will follow up on install after I get the truck.

I think you will like it. Can’t beat the Linex warranty and for the money IMO it’s got to be the best folding hard top.

I've had BAK trifolds on the last 3 trucks. I went with the ProZ from autoanything on my 2018. I'm glad I did. I saved $300 and I actually like the design better. You can close the tailgate with the cover down and it has a better system for locking the tonneau in the up position. It also seems to keep the water out around the tailgate a little better. I also had issues with the finish on two of my BAKs. So far the ProZ is holding up well.
