My German sports cars let me reset TPMS to whatever the current pressure is. I set them with a good gauge, and then reset TPMS. My new F350 does not seem to allow it. I have no intention of running around with 80psi in the rear tires with the bed empty. I am testing 60 front and 50 rear for the moment. Is there a way to set the rear TPMS while at 50psi, so I don't have to stare at the warning light all day? My 2005 RAM2500 diesel had very specific full and empty load pressures in the door jam. 60/70 full and 50/40 empty. The Ford has no such empty or half load pressure info that I can see. I switch back and forth every few weeks for towing.
Check the Forscan thread. With Forscan you can reprogram the front/rear TPMS threshold values. I lowered mine from 60/65 to 55/50 psi to improve my ride since I mostly run empty. However, if towing frequently this may not be convenient for you.
Does anyone know what the factory setting is? I routinely run 55 psi in all 4 tires with no changes to the factory setting, and haven't had the warning light come on.
Dealership told me on 2018 F350 SRW that the TPMS could not be reset to a lower value. I tried twice and two dealerships. is this true? I keep mine at 80 rear and 62 front I don't really see and ride quality difference at this point. I do see a minor bump in fuel eco on higher pressures.

Apparently yes, it is true that the dealers told you it couldn't be done.
As many others have said before, yes it can be reset to whatever you want it to be. Details are in the FORSCAN thread. Very simple to do.

Chances are that they don't want to get caught up in a lawsuit if things go wrong. Maybe Ford's IDS won't do it for the same reason, maybe not.
But it's well established that FORScan can do it. I've done it myself when changing tire size & brand.
