TPMS warning

OK.... so lowered my air pressure to 60 and seemed to be working..then temps dropped and pressure hit 50 ish... low tire warning came up and now have increased pressure to 70. Still getting warning and screen highlighting back tires.... is there a reset or will I have to air up to 80 and then 'sneak back down'?

running empty so would like to run 65 to no more than 70 psi in all tires..

thx for any help you guys can provide.

I run 60 p.s.i. in all four (4) stock tires and never get a TPMS warning. The tire pressure here never drop below 50 p.s.i. or rises to more than 62 p.s.i. At lease that's the way it has been since April 2017. It could change this winter.

What tires does your truck have on it?

The light will go off eventually. I run 50psi in mine but needed to haul some stuff so aired back up to 70psi. The warning light was still on but after 2 or 3 days the light finally went off. So it will go off eventually withing jumping through the stupid reset hoops....

On my 2015 I had to have the dealer reset it twice. I finally told them to recalibrate the TPMS to 50 psi. No problems since.

Or use FORScan to lower it yourself, problem solved without involving the dealer.

Thank you for the replies!

i ll give it a couple days to see if it fixes itself... if not having the dealer re-calibrate might be a good idea.

Mine has the 20" Michelin tires; F350 so not sure if it has a different TPMS setting than an F250.

Your dealer may well not change the alarm threshold setting. Many won't due to liability. It's very easy to do yourself with Forscan. I have mine set to 60 PSI all around so I can run lower pressure in my rears in the off season when I'm not towing heavy...

yes, you have to air them back up to 80 and bring them back down

no, the light won't go off by itself. I've been staring at it for 2 weeks now because I haven't cared enough to reset it

Interesting since I went from 50psi to 70psi and the light in fact went off after 2 days and about 40 miles. Light is still off since I haven't lowered the psi yet.

The dealer can't lower the TPMS threshold down to 50psi...Mine tried and said they don't have the capability to change it that much. You need a 3rd party program (forescan) to do it.

I had the same issue when I lowered my rear to 65 psi.
I took truck to dealer they reset the monitor so all tires are 65 psi and never had a problem since.

Yep, dealers certainly can do it but many won't or tell you it's not possible because they are afraid of liability. Mine did it on my 2012 but didn't want to on my 17 saying that if DOT found out... blah... blah...

That appears to be a dealer issue since mine did.

Same experience here like River Wild. My air on dually exterior went to 51 and alarm indicator light came on. I added air to 57psi. Took approx 3 days before alarm indicator light shut off on its own.

maybe it's a trim thing or 250vs350 thing but i'm going on 3 weeks looking at that light on a 350 xlt

it happened once before and when i aired it up to 80 the light immediately went off and stayed off after airing it back down to 65

eventually i'll get tired of exiting out of the air pressure screen and reset it again

I have my tires aired up to 70Lbs. Cooler weather the pressure dropped over time to 56ish? and the alarm sounded.... Aired back up to 70ish and everything was back to normal in my drive.
