Storage compartment door

Questions about basement storage doors... The inside of the door is wood covered by some sort of what feels a little like vinyl or linoleum. The wood around the bottom of the inside is starting to break down some and the covering is coming up along this area. The exterior of the door looks ok from what I can tell. This is on the entry side so its the compartment I get in and out of the most for outside chairs, etc. Its not so bad that I have to do anything immediately, I just want to get ahead of any issue that might arise. Is there a fix for this without having to replace the door itself? What is the most cost effective way of replacing the door and/or fixing the issue?

BTW, I know these aren't towing questions but I like you all better than the RV forums.

I think that a door replacement is the best option. It would not be out of the question to make a door, put some hinge on it and cover it with something.

I'd almost think that finishing it in a nice dark stain and varnish might like pretty good.
