It has to do with the DEF level in the DEF tank. I am not sure it will shut you down or not. I don't think it will. You can try topping off the DEF to see if the DTC will go away for now. If you continue to have the code, you might need to replace the DEF level sensor and/or clean the terminals on the sensor connector.
P21B0 - Reductant Level Sensor "C" Circuit High (SRC max – pin 3)
Search the form threads on this code. I had the same code a couple of weeks ago, also in southern Utah, and through this forum found out that it had to do it to reductant heater. There is a ford customer satisfaction recall for the reductant heater and they will change it free of charge. Save yourself a lot of money FYI, I have a 2011 diesel with 106,000 miles on it.
I reset mine with an OBD2 code reader I bought on Amazon - a Motopower MP69033. I don't think it cost me $30 shipped. I used Acton before but those are twice as expensive and don't work any better. You do get a better error code manual tho' . The console says I'm still under 1/2 tank of DEF, but I put 2 gallons in so I know that isn't true .... I probably just need to drive it around till my next cleaning cycle and it will reset.
