dipstick y block

.hello, I have a 1963 f250 4x4 and i am not sure if i have the right dipstick. the manual says some take 7 qts and some take 6.From what i can tell i have the larger pan but with 7 qts in it it goes way over the marks.my pan definitly has the profile of the 7 qt pan. thoughts?looking at the pictures of both pans mine look like the 7.

Lots of threads to read, but here's one example.

Definitely has the profile of the 7 qt pan.
I doubt the pan is 7 quarts, when you consider there's no specific 4WD pan or dipstick.

The truck pans are pretty easy to identify. Both rear sump. The 7 quart (Heavy Duty, not F250) has 1 drop down (2 levels) while the much more common 6 quart pan drops twice (3 levels) It's probably just a case of mismatched parts. The T-Bird pan is also rear sump and only drops down 1 time but it is much thinner at the front section, making a very noticeable drop, whereas the truck pans are more or less wedge shaped.

If you are positive of the pan capacity, then mark the level at the next oil change.
