Engine stalling randomly

So my 6.0 has stalled on me several times in the last couple of months. The first couple of times it did it at idle while parked. The last time it did it while I was driving and coming to a stop from around 45 mph, which was a bit worry some as it affected the steering and braking. Each time it starts back up without issue and drives fine until the next time which is random and far between. I have noticed on occasion it seems like it is about to die, kinda hiccups a little and clears up (Noticed when parallel paring once) and continues running. Aside from my EGR codes, due to my EGR delete, the only other code I have code is P0113 " Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High Bank 1". A month or so ago a mechanic buddy of mine that normally works on my truck mentioned I had a code regarding my mass flow intake and recommended a replace the sensor which I did. Not sure if this is the same code he was referring to as I have not had a chance to go by his place, but this has been happening before I changed the sensor. Also it has a slight rough idle after I have been driving it for a while, nothing big, but slightly noticeable from when first driving. My temps are within spec, and this is just normal driving around town, no towing or anything. Any suggestions?

Any way to monitor data live Elliott?
That might narrow things down a little bit when this occurs, but for starters I would confirm you have good fuel pressire.

I have my SCT Livewire always running. I could set it to record when I am out and about to see if it captures anything if the issue happens to occur. Not sure which gauges I would need to have up for this issue though. I have not checked to see if there is a fuel pressure gauge on it, but I will look.

i would watch the ICP, low oil pressure (if you can, some on here say they can see it), along with the fuel pressure.. those are the circuits that would normally cause a stalling issue. but rare occasions the cam/crank sensors can be at fault too..

You can't just plug in and check fuel pressure, unfortunately.
That has to be done with a mechanical gauge, or buy the hardware to do it electrically to tie into the SCT............ or do a stand alone gauge.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking about the cam/crank sensors as I have read and been told this can be an issue. Once I get some time to take it to my buddy I will see if he can check the fuel pressure. Keep the suggestions coming. Thanks!

with the 6.0's the cam/crank sensors seem to rarely fail.. but does happen.. the other sensors tend to fail more frequently.. left out one in my earlier post too.. IPR sensor would be another to look at.. usually when it fails though it causes failure to start issues more than the stalling issue..

So after some reading, my symptoms sound like it could be an ICP issue (Stalling, and very seldom some surging while at a light, and a rough idle), could this be the case even without any codes for ICP? Need to read up on the IPR.

if you still have the early 03 sensor then its possible.. theyre horrible for their failure rate.. if you swap it yourself put in an 05+ sensor.. more robust... less failures.. 03-early 04's its under the turbo.. just gets cooked by the up pipes.. they usually tend to leak oil through the connector when they go.. but some have failed without doing so..

You could try unplugging the ICP and driving it a couple days to see if the symptoms go away. You won't hurt anything, the PCM just defaults to certain parameters while it's unplugged. It will throw a code of course, just ignore it for that time.
If the pigtail is oily, it's a bad sensor and will need a new pigtail....at the very least clean it with some contact cleaner, but would recommend going new.
As Shawn mentioned, maybe update to the late 04+ sensor as shows in the video below. I did, and yes it does show around 50 psi KOEO, but once running reads normal.

according to my SG it doesnt on mine for some reason.. but havent had the IDS hooked up since so maybe thats where id see that... didnt make the start up any more aggressive as others suggested either..

Brake parts cleaner works good for cleaning the connector as well.. someone made off with my electrical connector cleaner.. so was all i had to use.

Haha, I had never heard that before.

I suppose someone timed the start up with a stop watch and gained .003 of second quicker starts?
Thanks for the LMAO

Crank sensor or cam sensor can play hell with you too. If ICP proves sound you may want to load up as a PID and watch if you loose link when it dies.

Ford has stated that brake cleaner can degrade some of the seals used in certain sensors. I would stick to Carb cleaner personally (if you don't have an electrical cleaner).
