Looking to get a code reader for the super duties. I have a '15 F-350 w/ 6.7. A friend recently was in the process of getting one for his either '15 or '16 F-350 but was told by the reader manuf. that it would not read codes if the truck is GVW over 8500#. Not sure why but he didn't get it due to that information. So what have ya'll found to be a good unit that will read / re-set codes on these late model super duty Fords ??? Also I was reading up on one but reviews said it would not read the ABS / Airbag codes from Ford or Chrysler products. I'm not sure just how badly I need one for ABS or Airbags but that's what some of them advertise.
it reads and clears the codes just fine on my 2011 F250, plus has the ability to display information on your phone/tablet/computer via blue tooth. I keep an old phone in the truck and monitor EGT temps and regen activity.
It works really well. I have used it on dozens of cars/trucks. I also own a Snap-On scanner that I haven't taken out of the case since I bought this. Its great.
So, I am the guy Roger the OP mentioned. I've been researching for a code reader since I did NOT get a check engine light, but did get a message that "In 50 miles you will not be able to exceed 5 mph" . Fortunately we were only four miles from a Ford dealer, who quickly found the faulty exhaust sensor and replaced under warranty. That said, I'd like the ability to scan codes, as an example, find the faulty exhaust sensor (there are four, three of which will shut the truck down) and once I've replaced a code reader that can reset the fault code. I looked at this one as Summit Racing in NJ said after checking with the mfg that it would work. I checked with Innova the mfg and they said "we do not make a code reader that can detect faulty sensors".
.. Therefore my quest continues. My truck is a 2015 F350 6.7 Diesel Crew. The scanners you all have listed as working in their manuals specifically state they do not work on diesels, which I've found to be the case with many if not most of the scanners recommended to me.
Thanks,
Bud - PA

Reason: Add info
The one I linked is just an OBDII bluetooth interface. The TorqePro app seems to work fine with my trucks. I used it on my '07 6.0 PSD and now on my '17 6.7 PSD. It also has a display mode that you can setup data displays for a bunch of the channels.
That same bluetooth OBDII interface will work with the ForScan app. I would assume that the ForScan app would read any of the diesel codes.
I bought mine thru Amazon. Works great, reads and clears codes or resets them. Very accurate, view live data and freeze frame data, display I/M readiness status.
Appreciate the replies and product suggestions, but in going to manufacturers websites they all specifically state will not work on diesels. So, my question is specifically are you Chief901 and Clubwagon saying that the OBD readers you purchased can scan the exhaust sensors and reset the codes or pinpoint which sensor of the four has gone bad as this is one of the aspects I am looking for and so far the only ones I've found are the Ford product which is currently not for sale and requires a laptop and the one provided to mechanics by Mactools etc.

Mine works on diesels (6.7 Power-Stroke), and many other Auto-Manufactures. It works without a laptop, it will read, clear and reset codes. The software is updatable. So to your question, Yes is scans and reads those codes. If you follow the link I posted, you can read all the features and capabilities of the OBD scanner/reader.
