in/out offset

Alright, enlighten me: the offset in/out on mufflers, does this do anything? Or is it just to accomidate the various things on the underside of ones vehichle? I'm looking at several Flowmasters right now: center in/center out, offset in/center out, center in/ offset out, offset in/ offset out

Why? Why are there so many options?

Ah, alright, simple enough. I guess not all vehicles have quite so much space back there

i think they offset the pipe just to make it that much more difficult to put in straight pipe
