Not new to the forum, but my first time posting! Feel like I already know many of you from reading all the threads! I have a 78 F-250 Ranger Lariat regular cab. You can see the basic setup from the Marti Auto VIN report and pictures. Love my dentside!
Quick question: Having a difficult time finding information on my front axle. Based on the VIN, my rear is a conventional Dana 60 with 3.54 gears. The code I pulled off the front is:
54 D8TA AEC
610040-2
I've spent hours reading through all the info on this forum, and have taken tons of ideas from everyone! Appreciate all the help!
D8TA-AEC
Dana 44-9F non-locking 3.54 with free running hubs, 3,800 lb capacity. Dana ID 610040-2
This info is from the Ford parts catalog, available on CD
Nice looking truck, BTW.
King pins ='s D60, ball joints ='s D44. Dana 60 rarer than a Dana 44. Post a pic of the dvrs side steering knuckle/axle and we will tell ya what we see.
