microwave doesn't heat

microwave doesn't heat

It runs but the food doesn't heat up.

Last thing I did before it broke was use it to heat water. I had forgot to put a lid on the dish and there was a lot of water vapor inside.

Water vapor shouldn't cause a problem...I never cover water when heating.

same here.
it probably just met it's expiration date.
nothing is made to last forever any more, manufacturers built stuff to die around 5-6 years after first put into service.

Most common Microwave issues are Door Switches or Diode. Cheap & both can be tested with an ohmmeter. Be careful of the capacitor. Big oval can. Usually discharges, but be aware.

It's less than two years old and I rarely use the thing. I don't figure it's the door switch because everything seems to run it's just not making any heat.

The diode where is that located is this an easy fix?

Toss it and get a new one, they are pretty inexpensive

Mine dies about every three years. I looked into fixing it the first time (me just buying new parts), and it was basically the same as buying brand new, so that’s what I do now.
