Power points

2008 Super Duty. All 4 of my power points are hot at all times. 2 on dash, 1 inside center console, and one on back of center console. Is this normal? I need one to be hot only when key is on.

Normal. So rewire it. Cut the positive and tap it onto a wire that's hot while the engines running. There might be one under the dash near the parking brake.

From what I've seen, this is a Ford thing. Their outlets (cigarette lighter sockets, power points, whatever you wanna call them), have always been like that. I've driven pickups in the years 1973, 1979, 1980, 1985, 1986, 2001, 2009, 2012, 2015 and they were always hot even with the key off.

It's not 100% across the board. My 07 Mariner has one always hot, one is switched via the accessory delay relay.

on my 2012.. both HOT.. when I replaced the radio.. I changed the right one to be wired with the key....
for GPS, and / or wife's tablet.
