Good Morning everybody, I have a 2017 F-350 (drw) King Ranch diesel and I need the 12 volt accessory sockets to stay on (or hot) when the truck is shut off, All four of them, the one on the dash the two in the center console and the one located on the back of the console. As you know they all shut off as soon as the truck shuts down. I did the search but kept coming up with nothing. Any one have a fix for this?
The single 12V power point deep inside the center console (bottom front right corner) of our 2017 stayed on for ~75 minutes after the ignition was shut off.
Will that help at all? Otherwise, the power point shut down time can be adjusted using FORscan and a bit of plug-in hardware.
Thanks Jim For your reply, Unfortunately all of my power points shut down when I turn off the truck. I've heard of FORscan but have absolutely no experience with it.
Do you have upfitter switches? Swiches 5 and 6 can be easily configured to “hot with ignition off”, and then you could rewire an existing power point and/or install a new one or two.
Thanks guys for all your help I'll try the dealer first if that doesn't work then maybe I'll learn all about the FORscan software. or find someone hear in South Florida that can help.
you can extend the length of time the power outlet remain powered on.
Using a laptop or tablet with the ForScan Software installed on it you would make the following (simple / diy) changes listed on the ForScan spreadsheet.
^^^Yep. BUT - If you have an early build 2017, you have to have the dealer reflash the BCM first per the above procedure (post 8). After they do that, the FORSCAN fix should work. For all others manufactured after Feb 17, just the FORSCAN is needed.
Thanks very much for all your help, I have an early build 2017 King Ranch so it's off to the dealership to do the upgrade. Thanks again everyone for all your help I know what's needed now.
Can anyone tell me where I could buy an ALDL to USB cable eBay maybe or Amazon I could not fine it.
ALDL to USB cables appear to be readily available on-line. However, I must confess that I’m not familiar with their application, and I see lots of references to OBD 1 and GM.
Wish I could be of confident assistance!
Jim / crewzer
OK, Here's the latest. My 2017 F350 King Ranch (drw) is an early build and the BCM has to be reflashed to the latest update before the FOREscan will work. So nuctrooper is correct. I have an appointment on the 20th of Sept to get that done. I'll let you know how it turns out.
