Just scored a nice contour bumper for my '78 SWB. I have searched the forums and read that there are no bumper
brackets available for the 73-78. I have seen posts on making brackets and that Bronco brackets will not work either...
My question is, has anyone used the '72 brackets (C4TZ-17787) available from Dennis Carpenter or LMC? I know they will not bolt in,
but it might be a start... Thoughts??

I just made some of these for my dads '85. Not too difficult to build, just a little time consuming. We wanted them to fit up close to the truck and be stout. All out of 1/4 and 3/8 inch material from the scrap bin:
After these get mounted, there is a gap between the bumper and the truck bed. We took a piece of plastic trim off the side of the donor car (crown vic) and trimmed it to make a piece that hides this gap:

I saw your post and took some pics to use as a reference... Dennis Carpenter has the early model brackets and just thought it
might be easier to start with them...
The Bumpside inner brackets will work... the outer "wing" brackets will need to be modified because the relative position of the holes (frame vs bumper) are different.
