87-91 doors. Will they fit the 92-96 body? I have power windows and locks, and the switch panel on the drivers side door is in the way of my knees (being large and tall aint all its cracked up to be) and I want it gone. My only thought would be to swap to the 87-91 doors because the switch panel is flush with the door panel. Thoughts? Ideas? Yea's or nay's? Thanks
I don't think changing the doors is necessary for what you are proposing. What I think you are saying is that you want to change the interior door panels. The door shells are identical.
Problem is the 87 to 91 panels will not line up with the 92 and up dash. There is also some difference in how the doors are wired and unfortunately, accessing the PW/PDL wiring involves removing the dash from the firewall. Not an easy or pleasant job.
If the switch pod is in the way, I'd consider modifying the door panel, but I am fresh out of ideas as to how to do this in some sort of aesthetically pleasing manner.
I thought about just swapping the panels, but the pw motors are completely different between 91 and 92, which is why I assume the panels are different.
And as far as the wiring goes, if the # of wires for the pw/pdl switch on the drivers side is the same on 87-91 and 92-96, then, in theory, one could just cut the wires and bridge the gap with a pigtail connector.

Actually NO, the Power window motor are IDENTICAL.
And yes, you can butcher the wires together but I am sure the colors are different
I am curious if this was ever done? My 92 door panels suck, they are all brittle and falling apart, I don't like how they mount by the window on the top.
