flashing interlock brake light 92 Exploder

I am looking to buy a 92 Exploder 142000 miles and I can see as well as read that they have taken excellent care of it in the last 7 years they have owned it. He took it to the shop a few weeks ago because he saw that the idiot light for they interlocking brakes had flashed and they mechanic spent hours looking them over and said all is fine but it wuld take a alot more time and money to shut the light off. The brakes and there mechanisms are good and to just leave it alone. I have owed one previously that had 225000 when I sold it and they light had flashed once and never again. The guy that is selling said he only saw flash once since them. Does it mean what the mechanic said that it was a check warning? I need something safe and I will be replacing my fullsize Bronco. The gas prices are killing me!!!
