Fellow idi'ers I have a truck I've sold. Guess which freeze plug is leaking? One of the two under the bellhousing adapter. I have about two weeks to work on it before I start a job out of town and my time will be scarce and my buyer pissy. I'm prepared to pull the motor and replace it along with all gaskets other than the head gaskets.
However I do not have the specialty installation tool and really can't wait to order one. Is it advisable to tap the hole and replace with a thread in plug? Perhaps use the factory plugs with careful installation and aviation cement or red loctite?
Last option: is there a good soul here that would rent/loan the tool?
