Smokie took a rattlesnake bite to the face last night. Nothing like a quick trip to the emergency vet to sober you up after an afternoon of barbecuing. He spent the night at the vet and I picked him up this morning. He's tired and swollen. His tongue has now retracted into his mouth and I'm taking that as a good sign! His dumb cousin Rusty yanked the snake out of a hole and Smokie thought he needed in on the action.
It seems that dog's bodies can naturally deal with a rattlesnake bite much better than humans can. Which is a good thing since people tend to have enough sense to avoid screwing with them. Dogs... well not so much. Glad Smokie's OK.

Happy Thursday all. Been cooler these past couple of days then the weather guesser previously predicted, which is fine by me. I noticed that 97 degree Monday is no longer 97 also. Of course, they could be wrong about that too. LOL In any case, hope everyone has a good rest of the week and even better weekend.
Last year, there was about 200 people, I'm guessing it will be about the same this time.
Got friends that are bringing along 8 heads of Cauliflower, 8 pineapples and two cases of corn on the cob.
I think there's supposed to be twelve bands for the weekend.
I'm looking forward to a real good time!
