If it is jumping from between 0 and 20 with the truck parked I would not do anything to the rear end other then maybe unplugging the VSS at the rear end.
Also leave the RABS module unplugged.
See if it still does it.
If so you either have a bad power connection or ground to the PSOM or a bad new PSOM.
Did the old PSOM do the same thing?
If yes I would look at the power and grounds.
Thanks, will unplug the ABS module and test it out. Then just have to find the grounds.
Hey guys, I’ve been having similar issues but I’ve narrowed it down to the PSOM or the ABS module. I have a 96 F150 and the speedo is jumping around a lot and my brakes will pulsate every now and then. I’ve changed the VSS, checked the rings in the back, the only thing I didn’t replace yet is the ABS module behind the glovebox. I’m going to go get a new PSOM at a junkyard either today or tomorrow. Is there any way to swap the odometer from the old to the new so I can keep the mileage? I took my psom off and couldn’t really see a way to swap it without breaking anything. Has anyone ever done this before?
There are two ways to keep your mileage.
One way is to remover the EEPROM from the old board and install it on the new board by either soldering it in or solder a socket in and plug the old EEPROM in it.
The other way is to copy the information out of your old boards EEPROM and burn it into the EEPROM in the new board. No soldering required and no power hooked up to the boards while copying.
Wish I could say if fixing the ground worked or not, pulled the panel in front of the passenger side door and found a somewhat large mud dauber nest on top of the ground wire. Removed the nest, cleaned up the contacts with a wire brush and reinstalled the bolt. But when I tried to start it again, it didn't want to start. When it finally started the idle was really rough and it was puffing white/blue smoke from the exhaust and kept dying. Looks like a head gasket now. Gonna be a while til I really get it fixed.
Underneath the passenger side of the dashboard there’s a 3 ring connector that I think is the RABS data link connector. Is this what is used when trying to get RABS codes or can I hook u a code reader to the OBD2 port and get the codes? And is there an adapter that is needed to connect to the RABS port?
