I have this code coming up on my 96 f150 5.8 e4od.
My speedometer started acting up then my trans and error.3 came across on my odometer and my o/d button started flashing. I have reset my codes and I've replaced the vss with one from my other truck so I know it works. And I got the error.3 to go away by recalibrating my Palm
Oh and I unhooked my battery for 1/2 hr. I tried driving it and my speedometer is still jumping around. Anyone had this problem and what did you do to fix it. Oh and I've checked my wiring at the rear end and all looks good

Pull the VSS out and clean it. It may be that easy...

With a Error.3 showing in the odo, the PSOM(speedometer) is bad due to corrupt EEPROM on the PSOM.

Best to find another PSOM from the junk yard and reprogram the pinion ratio for your truck, but the mileage will not be the same as its's stored in the PSOM's eeprom.

I cleared the error.3 when I recalibrated the psom. And as far as getting a new one that's a long shot since mines a 96 and as far as I've learned on here 96 is a 1 yr only

Any E-series AND F-series speedo(psom) from 94 and up will work. Just change out the speedo head from the cluster. 93 and older will work but had wobble issues in needle in some cases.

Good to hear, just get another PSOM and hope the milage is close to what's in your truck and reprogram the pinion ratio too.
