ABS Codes

im tracking down why my speedometer isnt working. ive tested the PSOM and it checked out fine so now i have moved down to the anti lock brake module and when i ran codes on the abs system i got

flash flash pause flash flash pause solid light. anyone know what this is? would this signify a 11 or 22? thanks for your time.

That appears to be an 11, KOEO and CM clear check. That is assuming, the flash - flash had a half a second (or so) in between consecutive blinks. Of course I'd prefer to see the test myself to be positive, but if I understand it correctly, it looks like an 11.

If it was a 22, or a three digit code 22*, this would have nothing to with your PSOM or your speedo question.

You might want to follow the wires from the VSS back towards the front cab. My old bronco had a similar problem (no speedo), and I traced it back to a wire that was crunched from a recent sand dune trip. I doubt the VSS crapped on you, it's such a simple device. But Murphy's law says it is possible....especially since the PSOM checked out. It might be full of metal shards, or potentially phosphorous if you rebuilt the rear end recently.

Good Luck
Mike

yea i had traced that already. i found out that the speedo goes thru the 4wabs module thats what has me running the abs codes. and you are correct on the slight pause between the flash as well so in that cause the module is bad. ive read up on others that have had my similar issue and replacing this has worked.

good luck with that... the E4OD shifts like garbage when the PSOM or the speedo isn't functioning properly.

Hopefully you can get this fixed so you don't incur any damage to the pricey E4OD. It should be thrown into limp mode without any speedometer feedback....

If that 4WABS module doesn't fix the speedo, www.dashusa.com carries our PSOM units, calibrated to your specs, at a much cheaper price than a dealer. Junkyards charge a pretty penny for the units too... I'd rather pickup a new one for a few dollars more.
