IPR issue

so I just replaced my IPR valve on my 2004 F250. Couple of questions one how tight does the IPR valve need to be because I could not get my socket on the IPR but I could get a wrench on it but not sure if I got it tight enough also the back bracket that holds the FICM bolt that goes I believe in the valve cover at the back I could not get the boat to tighten down at all is that just a stud to hold the bracket or is it actually a boat for my valve cover I put everything back together but it’s running kinda rough. It has been sitting for a couple months. No sure if that would have anything to do with it. Thanks.

Check your FICM connections. Make sure they snap in place. That would cause rough idling/running.

The valve cover bolts will NOT explain the leak you hear. Need a little more information as to where leak (noise) is coming from.

I’m trying to upload a video of what is going on. It happened right around 2,000 rpm when accelerating.idles just fine. Question. I had heard something about only putting in the OEM replacement IPR but in this case I bought a much cheaper one just because I didn’t want to spend 500.00 and it not be my problem. Would that effect anything.

Rough running at 2000 rpm is a typical symptom of an IPR issue. If your IPR wasn't seated well enough, it will cause issues.

I made a socket to fit the IPR but it is a 1/2 drive one. Is it possible ro get it in there to tighten it up.

You should be able, with a combination of extensions and a swivel or two get it snugged up

Tools: IPR socket, swivel, 8" extension, 10mm socket
Remove the air filter and turbo intake tube, remove degas bottle (or loosen it & push it aside), remove the FICM and bracket, remove the 10mm nut that has the injector ground wire (which is the one at the left rear of the intake), then remove the same intake bolt that the nut came off of, remove IPR heat shield, and should be able to reach it. Might be wise to also unhook the #8 injector by pushing the wire clip in to keep from breaking something.
