Any regrets to those that purchased Super Duty STX and in hindsight wished they had spent extra for XLT? Seems like the STX offers more rebates than XLT.
As far as aftermarket accessories, did you purchase rear under seat storage bin, etc, to “option it up” closer to an XLT while saving a few bucks ?
I don't own an STX but when I was looking at buying a new SD last year I was going to go with an STX because it had everything I wanted and I didn't feel the need to spend extra to get the XLT. Currently I own an XL(2013) and I don't have any regrets with it(other than not getting cab lights or an extended cab), I actually like the black grill and fender badge better than the chrome ones that come with the XLT.
The only things I wish I had were the power folding mirrors, heated/cooled seats and adaptive cruise control.
I've been able to install my own keypad for 30 bucks. Mine came with the 360 camera and sync 3 (I think that's the STX standard) and I've been plenty happy with it.
I can still install heated seats down the road. Cooled will be tougher at my katskins aren't perforated. Adaptive cruise will be a tough mod that I'll eventually pursue.
Oh and I'm glad I don't have underseat storage in the back. So much more storage room without!

I ordered a loaded XLT but bought the XL STX with 5-camera/Sync 3. I have no regrets, although I don't place a premium on power seats/mirrors/etc. I did install the Katzkin heated and cooled seats though to pimp it out. And I didn't care about resale value, as my company is paying for the truck and I will pass it down to my kid when I get a new one.
I went XLT for the fog lights, and a better (easier?) future resale. If it wasn't for that, I would have probably gotten the STX. The price difference was under a grand.
I debated both over and over. I was set on a custom order and both evenly spec'ed, the XLT was ~$1,600 more MSRP. The XLT trim differences were not worth it to me. I also didn't want the XLT rear seat storage box. I love the completely flat, giant floor. Plus, like J Standard said, I like the STX vent badges. Best looking out of any trim level IMHO.
The only thing I wish I had on my STX is the keypad on the door. My STX came with a lot of added options, and was actually higher priced than the XLT I was considering. I have had higher trim levels in my past Super Duties, and found I just don't use a lot of the extra bells, and whistles, and they just provide more opportunity for failure. The one thing that I was a little unsure of was the vinyl flooring. I had never had that, but am absolutely glad I went with that...don't miss carpet at all. I lean more towards function over form.
On a side note I think it is possible to add the keypad lock, I have seen some posts here that deal with that, but it seems a little above my skill level.
The only thing I regret and miss on purchasing the STX package is not having the keypad on door. It used to come in handy when I didn't have my keys nearby. I might just consider doing this mod down the future.
I traded in a 2014 F150, that year you could get leather seats, HID headlights in a XLT. Also had power seats etc. Traded it for my current STX, I only miss the factory HID headlights. Going back to halogen headlights sucks.

The one thing I don't see talked about much on this decision.... I don't think you can get vinyl seats in a XLT .
IMO the vinyl seats are underrated. The cloth seats I sat on were not that comfortable, not as stiff as vinyl.
2 changes within the past 5 years or so have curved my opinion
1) plastickiness of newer leather doesn't breath as well and vinyl finishes seem to be getting softer. Newer vinyl looks and behaves similar to a new leather seat but doesn't wrinkle or stain.
2) Aftermarket cooling and heating options
