Fabric under liner
I have a small rattle under my truck when I place the gear selector in R or D and then lightly tap the pedal. It goes away as soon as I'm moving.
I led myself to believe that the hardware holding the underliner up was loose and failing. Turns out that it was but still wasn't the issue.
My rant however is with the new hardware. I ordered the new bolts (screws) and retaining nuts from TASCA. They came with a Ford stock number and each piece was between $3.51 and $3.75 each. Chump change I know but, the old bolts had inside washers that prevented the bolts from dropping out. Now you'd thing that Ford would provide the inside washers with the bolts but nooooooo, a trip to ACE was needed.
Anyhoo, the retaining nuts that snap into the punch outs were very rusted and as soon as I touched them to pop them out, they snapped. The new ones popped right in with no issues and the new bolts work fine.
I thought this may help those of you who get significant snow and rust. This hardware could easily fail. In fact, I've considered taking the liner off and storing it to keep it in great condition. Looking for opinions on that idea.
