On my 2016 f250 4x4 I like running the tires around 55 or 60 psi but as we all know it sets off the sensor...what is the lowest PSI i can run before it set them off..
ALSO....after setting it off I have been raising the tire pressure little at a time...still wont go off...do I have to go up to 80psi...YIKES
Can't you have the senders replaced with ones that go off around 35 psi or so.
I would get real used to looking at a cel light myself since empty I run my 38's @ 30 rear and 35 front. I am sure that Les Schwab or whoever you use can change those out.
Guess there are benefits of owning a Dumb Truck made in 2006
Fortunately no TPMS on my Ford. I run the tires at 38 front and 36 rear. My work truck, a Silverado 2500HD, does have TPMS. I completely ignore the tire pressure light and run those tires 36 front and 34 rear. Makes the ride much smoother and greatly decrease tire wear.
Wondering if a tool such as AE or ProScan can tune the TPMS. Either reset to a lower pressure, or just turn to off and check your tire pressure monthly the old-school way.
I changed my tpms with my laptop. Look up forscan. Do a Google search. Plenty to read and you can change that yourself. Or take it to a dealer and have them lower it.
I actually took my pickup loaded with kids and fuel to a CAT scale and weighed it. Then I looked at the tire specs from the manufacturer and aired them down accordingly.
I'm running 60/50.
I could go as low as 40 in the rear but the tire wear with the chalking shows that to be a good tread contact.
I just live with the light and having to clear the " low tire" warning every time I start it. I took it to my dealer but they said Ford no longer lets them lower the TPMS settings and I'm not good enough with a computer to want to mess with Forscan. I used to run mine at around 68lbs and the light would stay off about 95% of the time, 70lbs would keep it off all the time. When the light would get triggered I would normally air up to around 75psi to get the light to go off and then drop the tires back down.
Post where you live someone here may be close enough with forscan to lower the sensor pressure or keep asking dealers. One may say no but find another if you can.
There are some simple tools that you can do it from but I'd be like a programmer and not as cheap.
I think there is one called SCT tuner that allows you to change the settings. Would be easier than the computer .
You could always threaten the dealer and tell then you'll never buy from them again 😁
