what would be a good highway/around town tire pressure for the 38" tsl's on my f350? i am looking for a smoother ride. right now i think they are at about 60.
Correst me if I am wrong but I thought TSL's had a max inflation pressure of 25psi. I've mounted thornbirds and they had that for a max psi. I can't give you any advice about your set-up though. I can ask though are your tsl's radials or bias ply? That might help the other guys figure out what to suggest.
Holy cow 60 psi? Man I run 38" SSR's on my Excursion, and I only run them at 33 psi. I pull a pretty big trailer once in a while, and then I run the back up to a whopping 40psi. Never seen anyone run them so high.
According to Interco, these tires (10 ply) were designed to be used with heavy trucks, and trailers. They can accept 60 psi and will survive at those pressures. They claim with heavy loads they are still within the safe range at 50 psi. Sidewall flex is what they are trying to eliminate while hauling a load. Also heat build up is a major factor. When I pull my trailer I run 40 psi with no problems, and they wear true. I also pull a large toy box, and I air them up to 48-52 psi. (all of these pressures are cold right, yeah). When the truck is empty I take them down to pressures in the low thirties. She likes them there. Anything lower, and the steering gets a little slow, and heavy, but they still wear flat with no 'cupping'. I di take mine down to around 15 17 psi when I get off-road, or out in the dunes, heak I have taken them down to 9 psi, and never run one off of the bead. No beadlocks on the grocery getter.
Try to air down even more, you will enjoy the ride after that. The truck will feel like a totally different one, and your fillings will stay in your teeth....
haha. i don't have fillings but i do want to keep my teeth. i also want to keep my drink in the drink holder when i get on the concrete freeways out here. so 35psi would be safe?
