Why different radiator configuration

Below is a picture of my 94 radiator hose that runs from the inlet/outlet? under the radiator overflow hose to one of the heater hoses. My 95 does not have this set up. It has a nipple over the inlet/outlet under the normal overflow hose. There is no hose going to the heater hose. Anyone know what is going on here with these differences? Thanks Sandy

Automatic transmission trucks have an oil cooler in the radiator. That line sends hot coolant to the cooler to get the transmission up to operating temperature quicker.
