Chip in key interfaces with ??
On a 99 V8 the chip in key interfaces with the ECM I know, what else?? thank you.

It interfaces with the Passive Anti-Theft Systems (PATS). The PATS interfaces with the ECM. There's an antenna loop located around the ignition key cylinder that is connected to the PATS module and energizes the transponder in the key.

Pats module in the dash. It's right behind the passenger side airbag. Remove the airbag and you'll see it right there.
