I am looking for what I think is called a GEM module for my 1999 Ford F250 Diesel. I understand that it controls all the goofy problems I am experiencing with my truck. For instance, radio lights won't work - horn won't work - ABS light stays on - Overdrive light flashes - Can anyone HELP?
Have you tried disconnecting both batteries for a few hours or overnight? I was told to do this when I was having ESOF problems with my '99 F250 PSD.
In my case it didn't help because the t-case shifter motor was bad, but the Service Manager I spoke with said that would clear out the PCM and the GEM module. You might wanna call a couple of dealers and see what they say.
I think dealers may have the ability to reprogram this module, but it's not something you can check with a DVOM or test light. As I recall a new one is about $400, so be careful with it. I think the GEM is located on the interior side of firewall, near the steering column, but I'm not sure about that.
It's been awhile since I messed with the electrical on the truck, so hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will add to this post.
