2011 F450 6.7 power Stroke on a Rescue Truck. Starting out a fter a minute or so Reduced Engine Power message comes up, engine light on. We pull over, turn off vehicle and restart and runs fine? What is causing this. Nobody seems to know how to fix it. been to several Ford Garages.
They have pulled codes, but truck was running ok. Had truck 2 days and worked fine and said to stop by when the truck was in reduced power and they would fix it. We are 2 hours from the Ford garage.
refer back to your invoice for the codes. Off hand it could be a number of things, but the one that comes to mind is the old cardboard in the fuel tank one.
Do you use a fuel additive? if so you may be dropped the card board from the cap in the fuel tank.
Yes, we do use fuel additive, I put it in myself and am careful with that. The truck does idle alot when on calls, like hours at a time and thought maybe this was effecting things. I will have to check for codes again.
Do you ever get a "Drive to Clean" exhaust filter message? A plugged DPF would cause a lot of problems related to having no power. EGR cooler could too, and that would be the easier and cheaper fix.
I dont get the Drive to Clean message. Just the Reduced power message. I had the codes rechecked this morning and it came up as PO234 Turbo Over boost Condition. Any ideas?
My idea would be a stuck wastegate on the turbo. Ford did away with the wastegate with the new turbo design in 2015, but a 2011 would still have one. But that's just an idea, I don't really know.
