WTF?? puked again
my 7.3 died on me the other day.i was on the highway,when the check eng lite came on and all my power went . the truck runs rough,no boost,egt's way up (over 500 at idle).its like driving a stick and being stuck in fifth gear,it happened last winter,and was not giving codes to diagnose.any ideas???

If your CEL light came on, there should be a code stored. Some scanners can't read our codes. Did you check for codes this time? Have you done the recall on the CPS? My tack will jump up while cranking on my '01, does yours?

If the check engine (SES) light came on, there will be codes.
A lot of basic OBD code readers won't pull PSD codes, you need one that will do the Ford advanced codes.

Pull the codes and get back, kinda sounds like your UVCH popped out on you, but the scan will tell you which one. 2 hours is all it took me and a few FTE buddys to do mine when it went. Hope you figure it out.

well, i tell ya. i got lots of advice here on this wonderful site when this happened to me. it just died, no symptoms. no smoke, no cough, just died. would not restart until it cooled down. happened in all types of environments. only happened hot. it was the selenoid on the IPR. they don't sell them. i bought one from Guzzle, $170 (ford wanted 310, international wanted 270). no problems since i changed it.
