My 2007 F350 Lariat DRW came with a brush bar installed by the PO. I have searched all over the internet but cannot find the manufacturer of this brush bar. I'm not even sure that even fits this truck because there is some welding that was done on the bracket when it was mounted. It looks a lot like a Westin but there are no serial numbers, part numbers, labels or stickers anywhere on it. However, when I look up applications for my truck, nothing comes up that looks like it. This truck was a Canadian destination truck manufactured right here in Louisville, KY so it might be made somewhere in Canada. The PO was in Quebec and then it was sold to someone in Ontario and later imported back in the US.
The reason I need to know is that I am looking to mount a winch plate on it and I want to see if one is already available for it. I could have something custom made but I'd really like to know the specs on this one to see how much weight it was designed to handle. I'd hate to have to start over with a new setup since this one looks really nice on the truck. Plus, I just installed the Hella 500 FF lights on it.

Please help! This is driving me crazy!
Good looking truck! However, from what I see with that brush guard, I would advise against mounting a winch of any sort to it with that less than par mounting. A custom route may be the only one you can take if you wish to keep that guard...

Yeah, you may be right. The weld looks pretty good but I'm not sure if it is stronger than a bolt would be. I already have a winch I used on my other truck that is on a portable mount that fits into a 2" receiver. I was hoping to make it a little more permanent since the brush bar is really nice. I haul a 3,800 lbs truck camper in the bed of the truck and my loaded wet weight is 12,420 lbs.so I really need a strong base if I ever need to use the winch. I really don't want to replace the factory bumper with a heavy duty aftermarket bumper. The truck barely fits lengthwise in my garage as is. Anything else sticking too far out front and I would have to park it outside and I'm not up for that. I spent too much money building that garage to not use it. There are a ton of aftermarket grill guards that will work with winches but I want quality. I don't want to be in a situation where I end up yanking the grill guard off the truck and bending the frame. I've got a lot of weight I would have to recover if there was ever a problem.
Thanks for your help!

Ditto - Nowhere near string enough to hold a winch! Great looking bar though... if you can get around it somehow and still keep, I definitely would!

The winch is not mandatory but I already have one, so there's THAT. I have studied the Warn Gen I Trans4mer winch set up (uprights) and they do not appear to be as thick as these mounts. They say you can mount a 16.5ti using the Trans4mer mounting system but they don't say whether it is strong enough to handle all that the winch could pull. I would definitely have to do a 2 line pull (if possible) and use the tow hook to take some pressure off the winch mount but that might still be too much for it if it weren't a straight line pull. 9 times out of 10, I would have the camper loaded so even the 16.5ti might not be enough depending on how stuck I get. I am very cautious when driving offroad with that much weight and certainly don;t expect to do any rock crawling in a 12k+ rig but I do a lot of snow camping so I could get into trouble on some forest service roads. I took it to upstate NY into the Adirondacks last winter and climbed some pretty steep grades in 4x4 with the camper loaded and never spun a tire. That much weight is good in the snow but not so good in the mud.
