Have a 2017 F250 SD with 5th wheel pkg. have 5600 miles on it and 730 miles on the boat trailer pulling it now for some reason I get faults when I start it up says trailer connected but the box is grayed out then it will say trailer disconnected but the box is orange I have to hit Ok to make the box go away if I hit the brakes or turn signals then faults start showing up.
There is no trailer in the menu I deleted it when all these faults started showing up sway control is unchecked, shows no active trailer in the menu, have not had an issue with it till I took it to the dealership to have the oil changed I came home hooked up the trailer and now getting faults.
I have tried hooking and unhooking with the truck running did the same with the truck off seems to make no difference
Anybody got any suggestions starting to get to be a pain to have to acknowledge these faults seems after about 15 min. on the road it goes away till I hit the brakes or the turn signal then it will say trailer disconnected and box is highlighted and just hit Ok
Leaving for Alabama in a few days but the boat should be connected most of the time, thank you in advance ....Tim
Remember when you bring your truck to the dealer for service, if there are any pcm or bcm updates they will flash your computer to keep it up to date automaticly, To stay ahead of the update's. You think your just getting a service but the dealer will check the updates and see what you are missing or any recalls will be done. That might be one that they reflashed and now you are having a problem. Call to see if they did that and always check for corrosion on your plug terminals as that is the most common cause for problems with trailer plugs

The corrosion was the first thing I checked but never thought about them flashing the computer I'll call them Monday about it thanks
Sounds to me like the connector is corroded to hell.
Your connector can carry enough current to let the computer think it's plugged in, but the second you hit the brakes, etc, it can't handle the added current.
Clean both ends of the connector, ensure the terminals look shiny. Make sure that it actually fits tight, it shouldn't be able to wobble around in the socket. I'd put money down that fixes your issue but, should it not..... I'd start chasing a bad ground in your trailer.
