According to 'Rebuilding the Famous Ford Flathead' by Ron Bishop, the corrrect end gap is .012 to .017 for the 59AB and .010 to .017 for the 8BA. The side gap is .0015 to .003 for both. Gaps are the same for compression and oil rings.
Your ring kit should have a spec in it. It's usually something like .003-005" per inch of bore. Install in measure in 3 places in the bore and then file to size.
