I have a 97 f250 HD that is a manual transmission. The instrument cluster is not the one that has the built in tachometer. Does anyone know off hand if the factory instrument cluster with the tachometer will just plug and play into my truck or am I goin to have to install an aftermarket tach?
A 1996 or 1997 cluster with tach is plug and play for your truck. Earlier 1992-1995 clusters are wired differently, and would require rewiring the wiring harness.
Very common swap.
You need to find a cluster from a vehicle with the same pin out as yours.
Not sure if the '97 HD's use the '96 pin but my guess is they do.
'92/93 are the same
94/95 are the same
'96 (1997-???)
You can tell by looking at the particular warning indicator lights and their locations compared to other years.
If you want to keep your mileage and not the one on the donor odometer, simply swap your existing speedometer into the new tach cluster.
And I don't think LMC sells what you are needing.
They only have some of the gauges but not the cluster.
If you can only find an earlier cluster and are willing to re-pin the wires to the correct locations on the connector that will work too, as mrollings53 stated.
You will need to be able to access and read an electrical schematic

I apologize for the confusion. I should have worded it better. What I meant was that they sell every gauge needed to build a cluster.
