1964 f100

Hello all. I have a question and hope someone can lead me in the right direction. I am purchasing a 1964 truck from my uncle, he is convinced it's an f150 model and someone told him it was a test market model built in late 64 and is an extremely rare model. I can't find any info to support this and wonder if anyone has heard of such a thing? Thank you for any help.

You won't find any F150 emblems on a 1964, because the F150 introduced in 1975

No, it's not a 150, those didn't show up till over ten years later. One thing to keep in mind about "rare", is it doesn't tell you anything about demand or value. There's all kinds of rare, even unique (one of a kind) stuff out there that you can't even give away. A pickup is a pickup. They're worth something but they ain't rare. If it has a heater you're probably doin' good.

One thing maybe you should check for with "stories" like that is it might be something that is maybe mis-titled. Some states had strange procedures. Make certain it has a clean title before thinking about purchase. Does it run? How much rust? How about post some pics. How much do you plan on paying for this gem?

A '64 is going to have a straight axle and leaf springs up front, like the big trucks. In '65 they went to Twin I-Beam front suspension. A '64 if V8 will have a Y-Block, the last year of those engines before the new FE.

Thank you for the responses. We have already made an agreement on my purchase of the truck, he is not trying to charge me a premium for this supposed "one off truck" it's a beautiful truck that he made a rust repair in the bed then put a new coat of paint on it. A fresh 390 that runs and drives great. I don't want to say how much I'm paying for it because I'm paying much less than what he could get for it on the market. He wants me to have it and enjoy it and is happy that its staying in the family. It still needs a few odds and ends done but overall it's a driver and ready to enjoy.

Someone has repainted the side mouldings and the plastic insert of the hood side emblem with gray paint.

The side mouldings originally had a red painted line and the plastic insert in the hood side emblem said 100

Here's a pic of the 1963/ (1963/64) hood side emblem. Notice the 100

Click on the pic twice to enlarge it, then use the cursor to move it.

Well OK, what could he get for it on the market then? Does look nice, clean. Engine swapped though, in '64 they only shipped with 292 Y-blocks, if V8 equipped.

I know it's not the original motor and that doesn't bother me, other than that it's all original running gear. If I weren't to buy it he was going to list it at $4,500
