Edge Evolution

Hey, I'm not sure the Edge Evolution I have installed is running all the new components I installed well enough. Not enough low end power and lots of smoke if I stomp on it in extreme mode. It does have an option for custom programming but unsure about that. Prior to that I had a six position chip which dislodged from the PCM and fried the computer along with a lot of other things. I am afraid to install another chip after what happened as the truck is lifted and used for some pretty violent offroading out west in the summer. Is there a programmer that actually does what is says out there or are they all junk.

Whoa! Junk? No. If you're running aftermarket ("stage 2" Industrial) injectors in your pickup with tuning designed for stock injectors, of course you're having issues.

Either explore your custom tuning options for the Evolution or run tuning on a chip designed for the injectors and TAPE IT IN if you have problems with it dislodging. Don't blame the platform.

Ok, thanks Cleatus. I don't really possess the knowledge to do the custom tune option on the Edge and I am scared of the chip anymore. The short on the original chip not only fried the PCM but a lot of the sensors and possibly the injectors as well. That's how I ended up with the Industrial stage 2 and then myriad other stuff supporting that upgrade. So I would like a little better performance from it all now having deployed the bucks bazooka bigtime.

The point is those injectors will never run correctly without using some sort of custom tune. All the "canned tunes" that come on either a chip or flash programmer are meant for the stock injectors. Thousands of people have been running chips for 15+ years with no issues as long as it is installed correctly. Edge tunes will be for stock injectors, which you do not have. I am not sure if custom tunes can be put on the Evolution or not, so you need to figure that out, but either way you need custom tunes meant for those injectors. By the way, what exactly does "stage 2" mean to them? I mean what is the XXXcc/%nozzle and are they split shot or single shot?

I taped mine in to prevent any possible issues and I haven't had any issues in the 4+ years I've had my chip.

Well you have single shot injectors and running split shot programs. You cannot tune an evolution to single shots. You need their "revolver" kit...which guess what...plugs into your PCM from the looks of it.
