What E4OD pan do I have?

Plug

deepest part
Good day all. I have a 98 E350 van on my Born Free RV. I'm swapping fluid and filter today. I bought both deep and shallow filters just encase.
I pulled the pan and since it's a 2 wheel drive, the filter in it is a shallow filter, short neck on the pickup tube. However, the pan...i'm not sure. It looks deep. I don't know if the PO swapped the pan and used the wrong filter.
Anyone help? The owners manual says 15.9 quarts.

Looks to me the standard E4OD trans, deep sump. They hold 12 quarts. I always start with ten and start and fill from there, it's easier to add than to remove and too much fluid will blow the tourqe converter seal right out. Be safe and smart. Hope this helps

If you want to do a complete fluid change, drain the torque converter too. There's a drain plug on the front of it you can access through a hole in the flexplate. It will hold about 4 gallons of fluid with the converter drained.

Thanks, the filter that came out was a short/shallow pan filter. I put in a deep filter. The pan went into place with no evidence of hitting the longer pickup tube. I also drained the TC, thanks for the tip.

What's this? No one is going to tell serpa4 that his transmission is going to grenade due to the fluid change? I've done the same thing he has done a few times and never had a problem. Sounds like good maintenance to me.
