I am no trans guru.... my brother has done a few, so here is some questions for you all here. Thanks in advance for any advice you have.
So we have an 84 E-350 Club Wagon with a 460 .060 overbore, and C-6 trans. We use this van to haul our 24ft enclosed trailer to some
shows.. with trailer having about max weight in it. Ok, the trans has been fine throughout, but last year seem to be a little tough, so we are
going to have to rebuild it, for this year. Also, thinking about aftermarket trans cooler/fan combination? Your thoughts?
What would you use for a rebuild kit?
Clutches?
Brands?
Torque Converter?
Would you do anything else, to make the trans more heavy duty?
Thanks in advance! 68Ranger390

As far as the interior parts, I am not sure. On my c6 I replaced the stock converter-er with a Hughes towing model. I also added a trans cooler out of a ford 6.0L diesel and a thermostat to control the flow. Never had an issue with trans temps while towing, but I also have not done and prolonged slow speed towing in the mountains etc.
As far as the cooler with a fan. I am under the impression that unless you are going under about 30mph, you get more flow from moving than the fan can supply.
