Someone had mentioned that 16 inch Aluminum wheels might not give enough clearance for the brakes?? Any comments?
Also I am looking at some Aluminum wheels for my 1969 F-250 Camper Special and they came off of a 2001 F-250. The chart says the bolt pattern and size of the lugs are the same.
From your experience do you think the chart is correct and
Aluminum Wheels for Ford F-250
agree that these Aluminum wheels would fit the bolt pattern and lug bolt size?
Yes, you can find them anywhere at tire stores or online. Or you can find stock Dodge/Ram 17" wheels. My son has a set on his 79 F-250 4wd.
Hey Rich, Tomorrow I am going to pickup one of the wheels and then make sure it fits my 1969 F-250 Explorer Camper Special, Guy said they had a few scratches but hope they are not too bad will also ck that out.
According to online sources the Stock Dodge Wheels come with a 8 x 6.5 Bolt circle and a 120.9 mm Center Hole or 4.76 inches however, my Camper Special has that 1 ton rear end (I think). I am hoping the center hole will fit over the back Axle. If it does it will be super close, I'll post the results. Of course the other issue is the back spacing. I'm not sure I want to deal with having to buy spacers, any ideas?? Since they are 17" wheels according to other posts here I should have plenty of room for the brake calipers. These rims have 35's on all of them. My Truck has 35's on a 16.5 rim in the back but only 285x75Rx16 on the Front, When I try to put the wheels on the front I imagine I am going to run into problems with the tire size, Any comments are appreciated.
Dodge Ram 2500 Wheel 17 x 8 fitment to Ford F-250 Camper Special
Presently on fitment of the 17" Dodge Wheels on the Rear of my 69 Camper Special.
The Dodge wheels are 17x8 and have a 6.25 inch backspacing,
the spoke rims on my truck are 10" and have 4.75 inch backspacing.
So I will need, 1.5 inch minimum thickness of adapters? Possibly 2"
I also received the lug nuts from the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with the wheels and I tried to screw them onto my studs and they are much bigger 9/16 -18
Also the holes in the Wheels are slightly bigger not sure if that matters but the Dodge Lug nuts have very large surface area compared to the Ford Acorn lug nuts
PICTURE INFO : Pic 1 THE Wheel sitting on the axle is not flush with the hub, the wheel thickness is 3/4 inch so there maybe 3/4 to 1" between wheel center and hub surface. Also, You can see the size of the
holes in the wheel are very large and the smaller stock Ford Acorn lug nuts may not work.
Pic 2 As you can see in the second pic the TIRE is hitting the truck Bed - (note the wheel center is as first picture not flush)
