New guy with some issues

I have a 2002 ford 4 door f250 4x4 v10 auto with 75xxxx
so here is my story I got this from a guy in trade and he was not a good mechanic and used alot of zip ties lol. So here is my list
engine temp not working
fuel gauge not working
glow plug light on (and it's a gas motor)
P1451 , P0453, P0141codes. I plan on dropping the tank this weekend he said he put a new fuel pump in and the gage worked on my what home but the next day it didn't so I'm guessing it's a plug and it has a straight pipe where the cat was so I'm guessing that's the p0141 code and was going to fix it but I cant find the back 02 plug??? And the Evap codes I have no idea where to even start

To start with zip ties can and most of the time are your friend. Nothing wrong with that. Second, I would verify the pcm is correct for the vehicle. I am assuming you have the 5.4 so the quickest way to verify if the temp sensor is bad is to unplug and ground it and see how the gauge works. The fuel tank sending unit could have a bad spot in the windings at the sensor. It would make sense if the float arm got to a bad spot on the coils it would quit working. Was it full when you picked it up? Do you remember how much fuel it showed when you picked it up? If it was close to empty put a couple of gallons in it and see if the gauge sarts working again. The back 02 plug on my 04 350 diesel were attached to a wiring harness that crossed over to the frame at the transfer case. Chances are that it was tied back with a zip tie. Good luck in your search for it.

Sorry i fixed it it's a v10 motor. So if i unplug the sensor and run a loop into self than while it show hot? Its stuck on cold now. And no it was low when I got it added about 1/3 of a tank drove it home and started fixing it correctly and it has some messed up wiring in the 7 way plug so i was working in that but that's the only working I touched and when I get back in the gage was stuck on E and not moving.

If you loop the temp sensor back to itself it may go to high, if it does chances are the circuit to the sensor is good and sensor should be replaced. As far as fuel sender, I can tell you my '06 F53 motorhome sets on empty when filled, after about 150 miles it will drop to 3/4 and work down until just under 1/2 and go to empty again. Generally at that point I fill it and it will take 60 gallons in a 75 gallon tank. It's a pain in the rear but I am not ready to drop a 75 gallon tank and replace a sender that may also be a problem to locate.

Add a couple of gallons to your tank and see if the guage works again. If so you will know it's the sending unit. Run it until it doesn't work any more and see if it starts working again. Carry a 5 gallon can of gas just in case it does run out. That would serve two purposes, one it would verify the sending unit is bad and two, it would pretty well empty which will help when dropping the tank.
