As soon as i got the truck and saw the wiring i only fitted a battery when i needed to move it, the wiring worried me that much!
ive ordered the wiring diagram from classic car wiring and will methodically go through it all.

The red wire should go to a fused power source.

The yellow wire should go to battery positive.

The brown wire should go to alternator/generator light.

Thanks for all the help, how hard is it to remove the wires from the connectors? has anyone replaced wires this way.

I don't know of a way to replace the wires into the actual bulkhead connectors. Best bet would be to splice in new wires & try to cover up with heat shrink best you can. I completely re-wired my 60, but I used one of the Painless Wiring universal harnesses. My only complaint is that there is no option for a bulkhead connector - all wiring has to run out a hole in the firewall. From your pics, it doesn't look like the wiring is butchered beyond repair. Unless you're worried about a "Professional" look, I'd go through & clean up loose wires & sketchy splices, then wrap with some kind of loom. I got an assortment of stuff called powerbraid from summit that works pretty well.
